United States ruler Donald Trump is backing his war-mongering efforts by saying things went worse in other wars. His full retreat into “whataboutism” is nothing more than a defensive coping mechanism designed to rally the base and save face.

Trump already all but surrendered in the war he started jointly with Israel when signing the Memorandum of Understanding. Iran declared it a “record of US failure.”

Not long after the media in the US noticed that the MoU was mostly a US surrender, Washington reignited the war with Iran while both sides pointed the finger, saying each had violated the interim peace deal. Now the US and Iran are exchanging strikes in a continually escalating conflict that is close to becoming an all-out war.

On Saturday, the US Central Command reported that four American service members had lost their lives after Iranian forces had pounded a military installation in Jordan and Iraq with ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones the previous day, according to a report by RT.

When discussing those deaths in a phone interview with the New York Post later on Saturday, Trump said that the recent losses were a “shame,” claiming that the American troops “died because they don’t want to see Iran have a nuclear weapon and they don’t want to see the Middle East blown up.”

He then immediately defended the deaths, saying, “Have you ever asked how many people died in Vietnam? Have you ever asked how many people died in Afghanistan in one day? In one day, run by [former US President] Sleepy Joe Biden.”

Trump then became enraged and threatened Iran on Truth Social. “Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

At least 17 American soldiers have been killed thus far in the war. Three Americans were killed since Friday, with a fourth missing and presumed dead. These four likely deaths are the first fatalities from enemy fire since March.
