Venezuela’s ruler, Nicolas Maduro, is rallying support for a war with the United States. As tensions flare, Maduro appears to become increasingly defiant of the U.S.’s posturing and threats.

Brandishing a sword and dressed in camouflage fatigues, Maduro said: “We must be ready to defend every inch of this blessed land from imperialist threat or aggression, no matter where it comes from.”

The confrontation between the U.S. and Venezuela continues down a volatile path, as Washington puts pressure on Caracas stemming from accusations that Maduro and senior officials are linked to narcotrafficking networks. This escalation included Washington’s designation of the Cartel de los Soles as a foreign terrorist organization, along with the deployment of major naval assets for what it describes as counter-narcotics operations.

The U.S. has also deployed the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, along with its strike group to the region. Officials describe the deployment as part of anti-drug-trafficking operations.

The U.S. has committed multiple egregious war crimes, too, sinking civilian boats in international waters without presenting evidence. The bold murders are not being taken seriously, and even the vice president, J.D. Vance, says he doesn’t “give a sh*t” what anyone thinks about the ruling class blatantly murdering people without a shred of support for doing so.

U.S. Strikes A 4th Venezuelan Boat, Committing More War Crimes

The U.S. is trying to make a case for war to promote regime change in Venezuela, while Caracas claims that the U.S. just wants its vast natural resources.

Amid this rising tension, President Trump, while traveling to Florida for Thanksgiving, signaled that the U.S. was keeping both diplomacy and stronger measures on the table. He told reporters, “If we can save lives, if we can do things the easy way, that’s fine. And if we have to do it the hard way, then that’s fine too.“ His remarks offered no clear indication of de-escalation, underscoring the uncertainty surrounding how Washington will respond to Maduro’s defiance. –Newsweek

The escalation is obvious. Do you think these actions will lead to war? Are we already in a war? Let us know!
