Husband Shoots Suspect After Wife is Stabbed During Argument in Houston Home

HOUSTON, TX — Charges have been filed against a 40-year-old man in connection with a stabbing and shooting that took place on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 13910 Nitida Street. The suspect, Keith Levale Strange, is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to reports from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident unfolded when officers from the Houston Police Department (HPD) responded to a stabbing call at approximately 6:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a female victim, 43, suffering from a stab wound and the suspect with a gunshot wound. Both were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

According to investigators, an argument ensued after Strange was asked to leave the residence, where he was involved in a family dispute. During the altercation, Strange stabbed the female family member with a kitchen knife and then lunged at her husband with the same weapon. Acting in self-defense, the husband shot Strange once, ending the assault.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and charged Strange with aggravated assault for his role in the attack. No charges have been filed against the homeowner, as his actions appear to have been in lawful self-defense, according to initial reports.

This case underscores the importance of being prepared to protect oneself and loved ones during an imminent threat. In situations like this, using force to stop an attack is legally justified when there’s a clear and immediate danger to life. Understanding local self-defense laws can ensure that defenders act within their rights while protecting themselves from harm.
