I guess we should mention – right out of the box – that the price of BTC earlier was down, but only a bit, from the more than $92,000 struck Wednesday.
Yeah fine (I can her the Bitcoin Nazi’s refrain “No Bitcoin for Ure!”) but to the sober-minded, (us?) the BTC run is NBD (no big deal). Because assets (singly) are always making impressive moves. They trade places over time and Dada, yada.
Let’s imagine the poor sot who bought BTC at it’s high of $64,000(+) in November of 2021. Just to be clear, our Aggregate Index then was running 31641.24.
Now let’s data roll into yesterday. BTC was $92,000 so it was up 43,75 percent in just about 3-years. Our Aggregate Index closed yesterday cl;osed Monday at 51,388.35 so it was up 62,4 percent.
And for the children yammering about how BTC is the Future? Well, no.
Taiwan Semiconductor – TSMC – was trading about 81.5 back in 2021. It closed yesterday close enough to 135. So (kinda-sorta) looks to us like it’s up 66.6 percent (roughly). And what about nVidia? Well, in November 2021 it was going for around $31.50. It closed at $146. So it’s up (a coin chiseler’s) 4.62 times.
This is why we insist that BTC=NBD. Because the Future is coming and extremely high overweight algos like BTC (which seem obviously headed to the scrap pile of history over the long haul because of their use-to-energy quotient) seems like a silly investment.
Asset Class Drift – Short California?
My consigliere will be here in two weeks. He, me, and the Butterball comprise the annual “gathering of turkeys” here. With Elaine supervising, we banter back and forth on asset classes and where best to deploy both Ure clan dollars in the coming year.
No, Bitcoin is not on the table. But neither will some other “interesting” (and sometimes sparkly) assets. The story in the NY Post about how Florida’s crumbling home prices haven’t been this bad since 2011 has taken my dream of a canal front home with a leaf screen over the pool on the west coast of Florida off the table.
I’ll tell you another asset with a dubious future: Could be motorhomes. This is because the climate screamers are getting their wish as California’s ban on new motorhome sales could start in weeks. On the surface these new CARB regulations are aimed at homes 8,500 pounds GVW and up.
But with all this climate stuffing, CARB has a following in other states which are likely to take up the same thing.
Now, smart people in industry can see what’s going on: California wants to go back to Paleo Times and the attack on ICE’s proves it. Which is why Phillips announced plans last month to close it’s L.A. refinery.
Let me see: runaway regulation – short of JOB KILLERS -mn oil refineries leaving and a long-term energy crisis due to socialism looms. Governor Gruesome’s answer? MORE Government. Yeah – unbelievably California unveils plan to deploy 10,000 community service members by 2025 | KRDO. More government to “service” people who are losing energy (oh, and freedom) and their motorhomes…
Our outlook for this asset class (a once-Golden state) is that the state will have to be renamed. “Little Mexico – with the same flavor of politics.” Or, Big-Ha California del Sewer.
Sounds like a Gruesome outlook, sure, but its only bound to get worse while governor you-know-who tries to do something – hell anything – right ahead of 2028. Though we think it will only be a matter of time until California gets so fr “out of Union” with the rest of America that it could lose some representation in Congress. But that’ll be down the road and I’ll be in a home by then…
But: way to freaking go.
Froth at Half Past Vitriol
While California pursues insanity (and I hatch plans to put up a string of “RV parks” just over the border in Oregon and Nevada) the rest of the world will be spared our wrath (for today.)
Takes one to know one, does it? Geraldo Rivera Says He Threw Up After Hearing Matt Gaetz Nom. Allegedly called Gaetz a ‘douche” which is how we got to the “takes one to know one angle” if you didn’t click the link.
Radical lefties are also unimpressed with another Trump pick: Trump picks anti-LGBTQ+ former Dem Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence. Not to quell free (or freak) press, but such wastes of electrons and trees might be justifiable is the Warturd party had won. So how about STFU and watch?
See, it’s like this: Republicans win US House solidifying total election victory. Republican’s didn’t act this rabid when Schemer and Peloser were on a roll, so a little “equality” seems in order. Oh? Equal only for them? Jeez…
That said, Reality is a bitter pill. Und zo: Leftist FBI Raids Poly Market CEO’s Home For Daring To Allow Site Users To Bet On Trump – They claim it was election interference. Wait! I voted! Was that election interference? (who are these people who haven’t gotten the cure for TDS yet? Isn’t Moderna working on a vaccine for billions, or something?).
Jib-Jabs and Gravy
Let’s talk money. Starting with the company that DEI wrecked. Strike hurt, too, of course. Boeing delivers layoff notices to 17,000 workers amid financial struggles. Boeing was never the same after moving their corporate digs from Seattle to Chicago back in the day- went downhill from there. So did Seattle, come to think of it. Fine line between creeping socialism and social cancer seems clear enough.

Producer Prices
Let’s see if we can believe this one: Remember, the Fed has been lowering rates on the OBVIOUS LIE that inflation is under control. Evidence just out?
“The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.2 percent in October, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Final demand prices advanced 0.1 percent in September
and 0.2 percent in August. (See table A.) On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand moved up 2.4 percent for the 12 months ended in October.
In October, most of the rise in final demand prices can be traced to a 0.3-percent advance in the index for final demand services. Prices for final demand goods inched up 0.1 percent.
The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services increased 0.3 percent in October after moving up 0.1 percent in September. For the 12 months ended in October, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 3.5 percent.”
Now, prices – less food and energy at the producer level are up 3.5 and that screams the Fed is wrong. See how this chart looks?
Crazy (though a necessary manipulation to avoid the collapse of Civilization but should they have that kinda power?)
In the background, the futures are up a little for the Dow and S&P at press time,. But globally, Gold and Silver are down and overnight as did much of Asia. Hang Seng, Taiwan, and the Nikkei 225 were all on the overnight loser list.
Side of Unemployment Filings?
Hmm. Election over, not seasonally adjuisted new filings can begin going up now?
Just, Um, Interesting

At the Ranch: Fallish Plans
First: a reminder that Captain Gooding is supposed to be back tomorrow with another insight (or several) into how to work through this post election and into the getting things done part of “Next.”
Leaves are nearly all down, except for the oaks around here. Since we “shortened” the two big trees between the house and the shop, our leaf work has been dramatically reduced.
I have this old 54-inch lawn tractor and with a high-left blade, I can return the yard to a nearly leaf-free golf course look in under two hours. You start from 30-feet out from a tree and then circle it (with the discharge chute aimed at the tree base) and make smaller and smaller circles. As you get really close, dial back the RPM to keep dust down.
Then, with the base of the tree covered, a charged hose nearby, toss on a few cups of diesel and light it off.
If the tree catches fire, well, shit happens. But that’s at least more entertaining than 3-hours with a leaf blower or12 with a rake. And when you get to be 76 (or nearly so) you likely have done most of the obvious ‘crazy shit” in life. So why not? Or, if not, you need to get to work on it, buddy.
Made a delicious pot of split pea soup last night – with a pound and a half of cut up honey ham in it. Full fall food. (Been trying all morning to come up with a good pea soup joke or punchline to write around that, but coming up empty so far.)
