On a Hill Overlooking Future

Monday – meh.

There’s really very little action to kick the week off. Other than the tit-for-tat game in the Middle East and the grinding down of Ukraine. And the NorKs going to Kursk and…

But the first issue is data which begins flowing tomorrow with a week to roll until the presidential (bad choices) will be made.  Other than a Dallas Fed report at mid-morning today, there’s precious little to keep anyone glued to monitors. Especially day trading types.

To understand the market, we need to first review what did (and did not) happen this weekend.

  1. Israel – as expected – popped Iran. But, it was a kinder, gentler pop than the hardcore on both sides (spoiling for war) would have liked.  Yes,, there was a report that Iran warned just today that the israeli action this weekend will “not go unanswered.” While in Iranian state media, Impunity has emboldened Zionists: Iran FM Spox. However (with their nuclear program rolling overtime in backrooms and hollowed-out mountains) the Supreme Leader: Israeli mischief should neither be magnified nor downplayed.  If your copy of the targeting list went to junk mail, try Operation Days Of Repentance – Armed Forces Press for a recap.
  2. Remember last week’s columns on “waitstates“?  Well, we may be in another one now.  Because while the “astrologers, seers and forecasters” say much more disgruntling things loom, they aren’t along until the two hottest of hot dates: November 3 and then December 7th.
  3. This has us considering the Big Picture for this week:  Economics and Jobs will finish out the run (or rerun) to the Oval.  ADP (and GDP) roll Wednesday, while the Challenger Job Cuts come Thursday and the Official number (coughs, sputters a bit) come Friday.  Day after Halloween.
  4. Next weekend, then – that first of the major hot dates – comes Sunday.  With the election (nominally, stuffed ballots aside) Tuesday, both sides will be able to move without too much risk of American ire.

Not an encouraging a view from today’s “Hill Overlooking Future” but it “is what it is,” I guess.

Other Dates and Movers?

Big doings in Georgia (the country, not the state) this weekend as people voted in leadership that is somewhat Moscow/Vlad Putin-friendly.  Reflected in stories like Putin Allies Celebrate as Georgia’s Ruling Party Claims Victory.  On the other hand, in the sore loser pile Georgia president asks foreign partners to act against Russia election ‘infiltration’. We can hardly wait to see of Open Borders is mentioned.

December 7th is being cited in astrology circles. Because president Xi’s chart and China’s (national) chart both point toward forcible action/War aspects (Mars something-or-others).  Still, China held back from taking on Taiwan despite workable weather over this past weekend.  Despite comments of an Ambassador: St Vincent and the Grenadines will defend Taiwan in the international community. Which – somehow – we can’t imagine China worrying too much about.

Thus we are now at the threshold of a new week, with markets set to stage a relief rally, but with an election close-at-hand, the Jobs Roulette game warming up for the second half of the week, and Electile Dysfunction everywhere, we think canaries soaring in this coal mine could turn into crows to be eaten in a week.  Patience is required. Things are being cooked, even now.

The Chart Problem

Physicist Sabine Hossenfelder has a dandy tag line in many of her videos:  “But there’s just one problem….”

In trading, it’s the Aggregate Index chart.  Yes, silly, the NASDAQ will likely hit a new high at the open this morning, but we are (speaking of conjunctivitis – with a nod to astrologers) looking at an ugly channel resolution to be made:

Now, I know this is a little hard to see – just what is going on in the upper right corner there – so let’s blow it up (if we can say that without causing alarms at BATF):

Notice how the smallest channel (Yellow) was broken?  And now we are opening strongly?  I would not be surprised if we didn’t have an even larger rally (during the day) to get right up and “kiss the trend.”

(Here’s the Sabine riff, now:) Here’s the problem.  The all-time high on the Aggregate was 49,736.61 hit at the close on the 18th.  Even with the (relief) rally today, we’re futuring 49,581.51.  So to “complete the kiss” we can go a bit higher than the opening indication, BUT IF we go over the 49,673.61 at the close, then it tells me more upside is possible between now and the “Ure pulling my lever” time.

Watch Them Runs

Does “holding the MSG” help?  Well, if you mean Madison Square Garden, yes.  Trump’s new coalition of MAGA ‘Avenger’ allies gather to back their ‘Captain America’ at MSG

One thing we’ve been thinking about is America’s need for a couple of Realists in the Cabinet.  Only found two suitable candidates for the position, so far: Tucker Carlson ( “Crowd Goes Wild as Tucker Carlson Rocks the Stage With Epic Speech “No fair system would make Liz Cheney powerful. No fair system would make Larry Fink rich. No fair system would elevate someone like Kamala Harris to a presidential nomination.” “Liz Cheney is out there ..”  Our Other Pick for Secretary of Reason is Elon Musk: Elon Musk’s X suspends new account of Iran’s Supreme Leader after it posts in Hebrew | Fortune.

Meanwhile, “Trumps Apprentice” was slicing up CNN for brunch: JD Vance gets into fiery back-and-forth with CNN’s Tapper.  Last time I looked, CNN was at the bottom of the news rankings – and gee, why would that surprise anyone?

On the democrat side, the politicizing of the Fedgov continues as NASA Administrator Nelson says report of Musk contacts with Putin ‘concerning’ – UPI.com.  Concerning? Because Musk get’s things done (and at a tiny fraction of the cost?”  Well, no question which party will continue the tradition of D.C. Budget Bloatware development, is there??

One thing I did learn this weekend is that the President Word-Salad hopeful can’t even keep promises (implicit) in the Friday Houston Rally hype: Media Now Claims No One ‘Actually’ Said Beyoncé Would Perform at Rally

Oh, and keep an eye on the political loading by the Dully Mailed which is serving befriend left-wing Nazi hysteria for clicks. Adolf Hitler had ‘some good ideas’, a fifth of Gen Z Americans believe according to Daily Mail poll.  Yes, this is how desperation journalism works when they are trying to “put a thumb” on the scales of public opinion.  They make up polls (that really no one gives a shit about) and use whatever dog whistle has been blown recently.  Might work on the functionally-impaired, but not on a grown up.

Age Matters in this Race:.  Dems have been harping on Trump’s age, of course.  See an example in Harris adopts Trump’s playbook as she targets his age and competence – The Washington Post (which wouldn’t endorse her).  Thing is, Team Kamala is showing they don’t understand math very well. Because Kamala is 60 and so is Tim Walz.  Two times 60 is 120, right?  OK, Trump is 78 and J.D. Vance is 40,  which totals 118.  Hopefully, you missed the “math is racist” memo and can average things?

Thus, we can say with statistical certainty, the Trump Team is younger than the Harris Team.  Of course, the fix is already in but it is important up front to see how the “adjustment bureau” changes things.

In Real News?

We’re not sure there is any, on this planet. We have 8-billion, most-divided people – disagreeing on Reality – so we don’t see too many routes to a happy ending in this 75-year screenplay I’ve been watching.  The only bet is whether I’ll live to Finis or whether I’ll click-on, first…  (Final chapters of our Longevity book on Peoplenomics.com coming Wednesday, by the by…).  So for now the “hard points” and “sharp stickery parts of Reality include:

To Whom? US Mercenaries Hired to Kill Abroad is Legitimately Insane – Military & War News. Come on (dog-face pony soldier) it’s a War Industry, don’t you get it?

Putin’s ground game continues: RUSSIAN FORCES CAPTURE OLEKSANDOPIL: NEW FRONTLINE OPENS #russia #shorts #ukraine

Quick – let’s all give Ukraine MORE money!!! U.S. and G7 prepares $50 billion loan for Ukraine – Gateway Hispanic.

Open Borders matter: More than 3 million border crossers from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela  (in time to vote?).

OMG I forgot to mention Walz!  “And there it is – Tim Walz confirms they will push for Mass Amnesty for tens of millions of illegal aliens.  Peachy.

At the Ranch: Reliving “Tomorrow Radio”

Back in ancient history – just after the invention of bongs and birth control – there was (is) a Fabulous radio jingle production company in Dallas called TM Productions.  Genius-level people – every one of ’em.

About 1978 (offers geezer memory) they came out with a promotional piece called Tomorrow Radio.  Move “civilians” in media land have no idea how clear our Old Man in the Newsroom viewpoint got sharpened.

Have a listen to this and you’ll understand the Real World – at least on the radio side – better than all your peers combined.  Wait until you have time to her the whole thing through – think FIRESIGN if you will…

Background: Helps to know the premise of this “Radio theater of the mind sketch” is that the radio station (where the skit is set) is going from one format (*youth oriented) to an older format called “Punk Country!” (Not a word, Biff…)  It’s every bit as good as anything done by Firesign Theater.  Well, except the pliers and dwarf part, maybe.

OK, time to feed the brain something useful.

Oh, and I almost forgot!  In Newark, a windmill and an armadillo. And BTC is still under $69-thousand.
