I am very excited to release Armorer.app V. 1.8 today. The major focus for this update was making it faster to log what you shot.

Armorer is the firearm maintenance app I built. It keeps a service log for every gun, tells you when a service interval is coming due, and protects your serial numbers with zero-knowledge encryption. Only you can read them. I can’t.

Round-based service intervals are only as good as the round count, and people skip logging when it is a chore. A lot of this update goes after that.

Want a chance to win a Shooters Global SG Timer 2?

Comment “I want a shot timer” on this video.

Shot timer import

If you run a Shooters Global timer, it already has every shot from your session. Armorer now connects to the timer over Bluetooth and pulls those shots straight in. The count comes from the timer, so there is nothing to add up.

It works with the SG Timer Sport and the SG Timer GO, and it is included with Armorer Pro.

Range sessions

A range session logs a whole trip at once. Every gun you shot goes in with one save.

A few smaller changes speed things up too. A calculator and a magazine counter now sit beside Rounds Fired. Voice logging knows which firearm you opened it from. The Range tab has quick notes that work with no signal and sync when you get one back.

Firearm Report

Used guns rarely come with a service record. This is one.

The Firearm Report gathers every round, malfunction and service on a single gun into one report. Read it in the app or export a PDF to keep, send to a gunsmith, or hand to a buyer along with the gun.

Magazines, parts and locations

Magazines now have their own section on each firearm. It shows what you own, what they hold and which guns they fit, and it accounts for extended baseplates.

Parts can move. Put a slide, optic or barrel on one gun, then move it to another, and the swap is recorded on both. Every part keeps the list of what it has been mounted on.

A gun, a magazine or a case of ammo can also be in two places at once, like the safe and the range bag. The location filters match either one.

Photos and video on logs

You can add a photo when you log rounds, a malfunction or maintenance. When a picture isn’t enough, add a short video clip. Video is a Pro feature.

Creator features

If you review guns or run T&E for manufacturers, turn on creator features in Profile. That adds loaner and T&E firearms, deadlines, collaboration projects that group a build from several brands, and a testing report for the manufacturer that lent you the gun.

I built these out of my own T&E work. The testing report follows what a manufacturer kept asking me for in the reports I send them.

Also in 1.8

  • Guns, gear and ammo are searchable.
  • Several maintenance jobs can go in one entry.
  • You can name a photo or document as you upload it.
  • Save stays at the bottom of every form instead of waiting at the end of it.
  • Ammo totals break down by caliber.
  • Photos load instantly instead of downloading again every launch.
  • Exports include magazines and range sessions.
  • On iPad, the list pane sorts and filters the same way the phone does.

How to get it

Armorer is a free download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android. Every account starts with a 30-day trial of everything, no credit card required. Pro is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year on the App Store.

If you already have the app, update it to get 1.8. If something is missing or broken, use the feedback button in Profile. It comes straight to me.
