A repossession dispute at a north Tulsa towing business escalated into a fatal shooting on August 28, 2026, after two men entered the office to retrieve a vehicle. When the confrontation turned physical, suspect Darius Jones drew a firearm and opened fire, shooting both the owner and his wife.
The owner returned fire before collapsing, striking Jones in the arm. Both the owner and his wife later died from their wounds. Jones was treated, released, and then taken into custody, where he was booked on two counts of first degree murder.

TULSA, OK — A dispute over a towed vehicle turned physical inside a north Tulsa towing business Friday morning, and when one of the men pulled a gun and opened fire, the owner shot back before he went down, according to the Tulsa Police Department. The owner and his wife were both killed.
Officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 11 a.m. on August 28, 2026, reporting a shooting at a towing business near Pine and Garnett Road and found three people who had been shot. A group had come to the towing company looking for a vehicle that had been repossessed, and two of them went inside to speak with the owner, as reported by KTUL.
Police say the dispute turned physical inside the office area. As two men began to fight, the suspect, Darius Jones, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the business owner.
The owner tried to defend himself. Jones fired at him and shot the owner’s wife. Before collapsing, the owner got rounds off and struck Jones in the arm.
Hands and fists put people in the ground every year, and the moment a firearm clears a waistband the fight changes again with no warning and no transition. The two men were already tangled up when the gun appeared. There was no distance to create, no exit to reach, no time to make a plan. The owner had a second or two of usable time and he used it while he was being shot.
The owner’s wife was pronounced dead at the scene. The owner was taken to a hospital and later died of his injuries. She was not part of the fight between the two men.

Officers secured the scene, brought multiple witnesses in for questioning, and reviewed footage from inside the business. Jones was treated for the gunshot wound to his arm, released, taken into custody, and booked on two counts of first degree murder. After he was shot he ran across the street and waited there until emergency responders arrived.
Police have not publicly identified the owner or his wife. Jones has been arrested and not convicted, he is presumed innocent, and the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office makes the final call on what charges are filed and how this case is prosecuted.
