LAKELAND, TN — Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded early Monday morning to an armed robbery in progress that involved a shooting at a Lakeland gas station.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred at approximately 3:12 a.m. on February 3, 2026, at the Exxon gas station in the 3500 block of Canada Road, just south of the Interstate 40 intersection in the City of Lakeland.
Patrol deputies arrived within three minutes of being dispatched. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suspect lying in the front doorway of the gas station suffering from gunshot wounds. Shelby County Fire paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the suspect deceased.
No additional injuries were reported, and no other suspects were identified at the time of the initial response. Authorities have not released information regarding who fired the shots or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
