LAS VEGAS, NV — Smith & Wesson broke new ground at SHOT Show 2026 with the Spec Series R, the first-ever revolver in the Spec Series lineup and a bold step forward in blending tradition with modern innovation.

Built on the 686 Plus L-frame, this .357 Magnum revolver offers seven-shot capacity and comes in a durable tungsten Cerakote frame with contrasting black components. The frame features a Performance Center extended cylinder release for quicker reloads, along with a power ported barrel to help mitigate recoil.

In a first for the Spec Series, the revolver ships optics-ready, pre-installed with an Aimpoint Acro P2 red dot, mounted via Smith & Wesson’s proprietary optic plate. For users preferring irons, it also includes a backup rear sight.

Classic checkered grips maintain a traditional revolver feel, while the rest of the package is pure modern utility, making the Spec Series R an ideal choice for defensive revolver users looking for advanced features .

By integrating modern sighting systems into its revolver platform, Smith & Wesson demonstrates its continued commitment to offering serious defensive options that fit the needs of today’s armed citizens.
