Israel has begun its offensive, designed to take over Gaza City. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told the military to decrease the time to defeat Hamas after his plans for military control were approved.

Netanyahu later said that he had ordered the military to “shorten the timelines for seizing the last terror strongholds and for the defeat of Hamas.”

Israel Doubles Down On Its Goal To Eliminate Hamas

Full military control of Gaza City was approved two weeks ago by Israel’s security cabinet. This plan would use military force to hand complete control of Gaza over to Netanyahu. A military spokesperson announced that the “first stages” of the seizure have begun.

Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said on Wednesday that Israeli forces are already “holding the outskirts of Gaza City” and will “deepen” attacks on the Palestinian armed group Hamas in the densely populated area.

On Wednesday, three IDF troops were wounded, including one severely, after 15 Hamas fighters emerged from tunnels and attacked them with firearms and anti-tank missiles near Khan Younis, south of Gaza City, according to a report by RT.

The IDF has announced that it would call up 60,000 additional troops in order to speed up the seizure of Gaza City. It is also expected to present a plan to Netanyahu today that will outline the capture of the city.

Previously, Netanyahu has stated that he won’t “govern” Gaza, just take it over. The United States ruling class is also in support of the takeover, with Donald Trump saying he wouldn’t “rule out” deploying American troops to fight for Israel. Trump would also be OK with the U.S. taking over Gaza and turning it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Netanyahu Says Israel Won’t “Govern” Gaza

Trump did not rule out deploying U.S. troops to Gaza either. The war-mongering is ratcheting up to a whole new level. “If it’s necessary, we’ll do that,” Trump said of using the military to take control of the Gaza Strip.  “I do see a long-term ownership position, and I see it bringing great stability to that part of the Middle East,” he said. He described his vision as transforming Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” –SHTFPlan

This will increase the likelihood of the war dragging on and expanding. Will Israel be successful in its takeover? If so, what do you think this will achieve?
