United States President Donald Trump announced earlier that there would be a ceasefire after nearly two weeks of strikes following Israel’s attack on Iran. Trump claimed that Israel and Iran had approached him “almost simultaneously, and said, ‘PEACE!’, adding that the Middle East and the whole world would be “winners” in a cessation of hostilities.

The U.S. did not help this war situation by bombing nuclear facilities in Iran. However, this ceasefire could be legitimate. We may have narrowly missed World War 3.

Iran’s top security body announced “the national decision to impose the cessation of war on the Zionist enemy [Israel] and its vile supporters” in a statement on Tuesday. However, retaliation by Iran will commence if Israel breaks the ceasefire agreement.

The Iranian military “without any trust to the words of the enemy and with their hands on the trigger, are ready to deliver a decisive and deterring response to any violating act by the enemy,” it warned.

Tehran delivered a “humiliating and exemplary response to the enemy’s cruelty,” including a missile attack on the US base in Qatar on Monday and the latest wave of strikes against Israel.

“The courage and sacrifice” of the Iranian military “forced the enemy into regret and accepting defeat and the unilateral cessation of its aggression,” it added. –RT

Israel has also confirmed the ceasefire, with the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating that Israel would “respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.” Netanyahu thanked Trump and the U.S. military empire, which hit targets in Iran on Sunday, for “their support in defense and their participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat.”

Russia has also said that this ceasefire is “welcome” and that their ruling class has been looking forward to a truce since the conflict began almost two weeks ago.
